Fibre to premises

Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) broadband, is a type of internet connectivity where fibre-optic cables are extended directly to individual residences or businesses. In this setup, the optical fibre replaces traditional copper or coaxial cables for the last leg of the telecommunications network.

  • High Speeds: FTTP broadband offers significantly higher data speeds, making it suitable for bandwidth-intensive activities such as streaming high-definition videos, online gaming, and large file downloads.
  • Reliability: Fiber optic cables are less susceptible to interference and signal degradation compared to copper cables, providing a more stable and reliable internet connection.
  • Future-Proof Infrastructure: Fibre optics is considered a future-proof technology, capable of supporting higher data speeds as technology advances without the need for significant infrastructure upgrades.

Broadband Leased Line

Leased Line

With Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) – or leased lines, you’ll have a dedicated and unlimited internet connection that isn’t shared with anyone else, so you get all performance you pay for. As a 100% fibre connection, you also benefit from the latest and most advanced technology for internet access.

  • An uncontended service: You’ll get 100% of the bandwidth you’re paying for – dedicated symmetrical circuits ensure you don’t share bandwidth with anyone else, and that your download and upload speeds are the same.
  • Unlimited access: There are no restrictions on monthly usage or additional charges for large files, making it ideal for hosting your own website, managing email efficiency or supporting business-critical applications.
  • The speed you need: Choose your bandwidths for a connection speed that suits your business. A ‘burst’ option provides extra bandwidth to meet unexpected peaks in demand, while throttled ports let you prepare for planned growth.
  • Personalise your security: Keep your connection and your data safe with optional security features including Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection, internet proxy services, email security, managed firewalls and resilient service options.

SOGEA

SoGEA is a broadband-only product which took over the requirement to have a dedicated landline for the internet connection. SoGEA stands for Single Order Generic Ethernet Access. SoGEA helps to meet the growing demand for high-speed, broadband-only connections without a landline. Customers that want to make calls will have to do so via an internet-based solution, such as VoIP.

  • Reduced cost: With SoGEA, you are only charged for a broadband data connection and no landline rental cost.
  • Increased flexibility: With everything on the Cloud, you can make and take calls on any device, anywhere, from the same number. This means you can work wherever you want to.
  • High Speed: SoGEA offers speeds similar to FTTC, providing high speed reliable connections.

The Digital Switchover 2025

The Analogue Switch Off (ASO) is a major change to the way that phone and broadband services are delivered in the UK. By 2025, all analogue copper phone lines and broadband services will be switched off, and everyone will need to switch to digital alternatives. The analogue, copper wire phone network (also known as public switch telephone network – or PSTN) is being retired.

In summary, you’ll need to assess your business communication infrastructure and if your business is still connected to an analogue, copper phone line, then you’ll need to switch to a digital, internet-based alternative.
