Fatigue is a major cause of large truck crash fatalities globally with micro-sleeps and drowsy driving impairing a driver’s
ability to concentrate on the road ahead. At the same time, distracted driving has become a serious problem with drivers

often attempting to multi-task using mobile phones and communicating with others.

With Guardian, the in-cab Driver Alert System includes a sensor that detects eye closure and distraction events were a driver has turned away from the road.  This coupled with an audible alarm and seat vibration motor helps to promote driver wellbeing and Duty of Care.  

When a fatigue or distraction event takes place the data and a video capture of the event are sent to the Guardian Centre for review and verification by an analyst. Within minutes of a fatigue event being verified, the Guardian Centre will contact the fleet’s nominated manager so that they can initiate an intervention plan.
