Cubo Connect: Meet Gary Day

Tell us about yourself?

I’m Gary Day, born and raised in the City of Belfast. I’ve been working with telecommunications since the age of 18. I was self employed for 10 years under the guise G’day communications and was the main subcontractor for Orange. When not working I love to spend time with family and friends, playing the guitar, having a beer or two and listening to music. I have also recently completed the couch to 5k and hope to do a stage in next year’s Belfast marathon!

Favourite holiday destination

Cuba in 2006 before most of the American influence.

Favourite Movie and TV show?

TV show is The Wire and film would be Quentin Tarantino’s True Romance.

Favourite food & drink?

Steak and Guinness preferably at the same time!

Favourite social media platform?

Twitter.

Have you ever met anyone famous?

No, but Eamonn Holmes used to live in my street and Bara Best the BBC weather man lives round the corner.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Invisibility.

If you could meet any living person for dinner, who would you pick and why?

Elon Musk to discuss his views of technology for the future.

What would be your walkout song in front of a packed crowd?

Pink Floyd “Run Like Hell” ( From the album The Wall).

How long have you been at Cubo and what is your role?

I’ve been with Cubo for 11 years beginning with 6 years as an engineer and  then transitioning to my current role in Technical support. We deal with installation, supply and support on all Cubo telematics equipment.

Favourite thing about working at Cubo?

Flexibility and friendly atmosphere.

What’s your favourite piece of work advice you’ve ever received?

To work smarter, not harder.
